Over the weekend, we celebrated valentine’s day and luckily for the couples, it’s on a Sunday! Couples have enough time for quick weekend getaway to celebrate with their significant others.
I do know a few couples who are going out-of-town to celebrate or have plans for dinner date but as for me, I’m single as
fuck. I don’t mind it though, on the contrary, it feels nice to be single for once on a valentine’s weekend.
I’m used to being in a long-term relationship, i’m always that person in the group who always have someone. But times have changed, goals have changed, ideals have changed. Anyway, like I said, it feels good to be single this time around. You get a rare chance to take yourself out on a date. To learn and enjoy things that could make you happy. 🙂
As for my valentine weekend, it was filled with so much love and happiness. I was surrounded with my family and friends.
Last Saturday, I went with mom, together with my aunts and friends, on a quick trip to the mountainside of Cebu. We visited the Sirao Flower Garden and the Temple of Leah.
Later that night, I watched a musical play, Gugmang Giatay, together with the family. It’s a bisaya musical which showcases our language in a mixture of old and new songs.
On valentine’s day, I took myself on a date. I watched Love Confessions, a collections of monologues, soliloquies, and poetry. They featured some of the pieces from my favorite poets, Sarah Kaye, Phil Kaye and Juan Miguel Severo. The interpretation of their pieces were beautiful. There were even moments where I cried and fell in love.
Earlier this year, it dawned on me that for someone to love me truly, I need to love and believe in myself. I took me three failed relationships that the only person you can always count on is yourself, and if you can’t do that, you can’t expect someone else would.
As of now, i’m working on that. 😉
